Welcome back! I’m happy to be back, and to present the first Spring Edition of The Weekender! We’ve had a surplus of lettuce and cabbage thanks to our CSA boxes, and I had the thought that some of you might, as well. To that end, I’ve included some outside-the-box (haha) recipes for you.
Lamb’s Lettuce and Chicken Soup from C&Z I want to try it this coming week. I’m not sure what type of lettuce we have, although I think it’s a Bibb type. I’m going to chop it up, and hope for the best!
Lettuce Soup by Emeril Lagasse Anything by Emeril is bound to be good, oui? This is another one I hope to try in the next week or to. I think it would make a terrific luncheon soup.
Cabbage Lasagna This recipe, more than any other posted here, has me super excited for next week. We love us some cabbage around here, and lasagna. This seems like such a perfect marriage of the two!
Cabbage in Mild Yogurt and Mustard A curried cabbage dish, which I think would make a fantastic side – or add some chicken coated sprinkled with salt & cumin then brushed with yogurt and broiled 5 minutes per side for a tasty main dish?
Why she is wearing more colors, eating ice cream, and laughing more often This post resonated me with greatly when I read it. I took a sudden break from all things blog and social media a few weeks back, because I had had enough. I was trying too hard to be everybody else: to look like them, sound like them, be interested in what they were, follow all the latest trends and use the latest buzzwords because that’s what the popular girls were doing – you get the idea. I recognized it, and realized I need to quickly and thoroughly cut myself off for a time. Now I’m back, and hoping that I continue to realize that I don’t need to “…try to be her, because you aren’t her.”
Why she stopped hustling Again, this related directly to something I realized recently. I’m constantly prey to becoming too busy, for no good reasons. When I stopped being so busy? I suddenly became far more productive with far less effort. Ironic, isn’t it?
Thriving as a mom instead of just surviving How one mama has gone from survival mode with one child to thriving with three.
The Root Simple Blog This is blog that the Norseman and I have been following for some time, and ultimately survived the recent hard culling of my blog reading list. All things urban homesteading, sustainable living, and more.
