I have a bunch of links for you this time. If you are following me on Facebook or on Twitter, you will recognize many of these (although some won’t post until later today.) I’ve decided to use Buffer to handle the automatic posting of content that I want to share via those platforms, and so far, it is working beautifully. I’ll be on once in awhile to check for comments and questions that need replying to, but I don’t have the time to be on there meandering around (because I will!) on a daily basis.
Don’t Buy That Shrimp! After reading this, I will only be purchasing shrimp caught in the U.S. I don’t want to put anyone out of a job, but nor do I want to be part of a self-perpetuating problem.
We Really Are Losing the English Language Interesting little blurb that will have some relevance to one of next week’s posts.
My Favorite Mayo Recipe Right Now I have an immersion blender, so it takes me all of about a minute to make this, if I remember to pull the egg and lemon juice out of the refrigerator ahead of time.
What I Needed to Hear This Week It’s been an exhausting week. I’ve been wanting to get up with the Norseman when he gets up for work, but I’ve been so tired. Crystal Paine had the words I needed, and maybe you need them, too.
Growing Veggies in High Rise Buildings And why it isn’t as sustainable as some people think. A great in-depth read. Also: why the potatoes would never have grown on Mars like they supposedly did in the movie The Martian.
My Dream Home, on an Island That is Slowly Dying Okay, so maybe that is a bit dramatic. But Cape Breton Island really is experiencing some devastating population loss. And, it’s a close neighbor to Prince Edward Island. Just saying.
We Need an Urban Goat Farm Yes, please. I’d sign up to help with one of these in a heartbeat. I know the Norseman would be ecstatic. Maybe we need to see about proposing one here. It is about that time of year where the city council decides what new projects to take on.
That’s all – Happy Weekend!
