Happy, happy weekend!
I’m so excited about this weekend. It means August is just around the corner. And that means new things for the blog (officially!), starting “school” planning for Prima (more on that to come), prepping for my own back-to-school, a refresh on goal setting with my PowerSheets (on sale – go grab some!), and so much more that I can’t share yet.
Here’s this week’s round-up. Mostly health focused since that is a big goal for me in August, so that’s what I’ve been reading lately.
Why You Should Cook Your Oats Like Laura Ingalls Wilder ~ Remember the post about cooking stovetop oatmeal from Monday? This is one link I saved for later. Mostly because I like Laura Ingalls and thought that made it sooo cool. And a little bit because I didn’t want to scare any one off with how long this process takes. I’m going to try it this coming week. I’m kind of only a whole lot of excited!
What is Clean Eating? ~ “…these days, I’m worried that the phrase has taken on a new, misguided meaning. The implication is that if you’re not ‘eating clean,’ what you eat otherwise is dirty or unhygienic, and that’s simply not true.”
Six Week Workout Plan from Shape ~ This plan looks great, with very little equipment needed. I found it looking for a six week plan, and although I won’t use it right now, it’s saved for a little later on. I chose not to do it right now because I am working on my running three days a week, and this really does not fit in with a running schedule of any kind, unless you are already at an intermediate or advanced fitness level, I think.
Debunking the 6-Week Wait to Exercise Postpartum ~ I didn’t wait six weeks to start moving. I don’t think I could have, I was so bored. She doesn’t advocate going full-bore, but rather starting gently, which in the long run leads to faster recovery.
Money Saving Mom and the NuMe Hair Straightener ~ I am so sold. She’s talked about this hair straightener before, and I thought, “Eh, it’s okay.” But wow – this has been added to my wishlist.
One Bowl Blueberry Brownies ~ Our CSA is still providing us with blueberries (although I think this will be the last week.) I’ve been making preserves, freezing them, and putting them in everything I can think of. The Norseman wanted brownies, so naturally I had to find a blueberry brownie recipe. This one is pretty close to perfect.
